SLJ 2020-2021 Post 1: Art

 Hello everybody!

Today I am posting about my first SLJ or Summer Learning Journey, and its about art. So first I did  is watch a video on where to click and more, then I clicked a link that leaded me to a website. I needed to choose a image to colour in, so I chose this image:

Now I needed to change up some colours in the image:

Name of art: A mess of colours.  

After we have done that we needed to make a copy of a google drawing and and did stuff on that google drawing.

Letter of the week. :D

So here is my blog post about the letter of the week if you don't now what l.o.w is then l.o.w is were the class go on a google slide and do stuff about the word and other stuff but that's boring to tell you about. But this term the best term, term 4 we get to choose our own letters. So I chose "Y". Here is my work.

Super Sports

 Hello, and welcome to my blog 

This term we have been learning about language features,  and this week we have been making recounts with those language features. 

These are the language features that we have learned this term 

Onomatopoeia - ‘Bang 
 
Metaphor - “You are the sun!’ 

Personification “The clouds danced across the sky.” 

Hyperboles - “I was so embarrassed I would have stuck my head in the toilet to hide.” 

Alliteration - “It was time for super Sunday sports.” 

Dialogue - “Don’t move,” Somebody whispered. 

The first thing I did in my document was answer the questions:  how, why, what, when, where and who. I wrote these ideas in bullet points on my doc. After we were do with the bullet points we started with the story and waited for the right time to use the language features.

Here is my story so far

I wasn't really sad when winter sports came to an end. But I'm going to you all about it.

The bell rang and we all had to go to the court and line up in our teams and started to walk to Kyle park. While we were walking to kyle park, me and some of my teammates were talking about stuff. “Yo Eddie did you know that we were in level 2?” asked jared.

“Yeah I know, I got a buzz on my phone saying that were in level 2”

We talked about covid for a while then we crossed a road that led to kyle park.

Writing....... I guess

 Hello fellow mortals,

Today I am posting about what my class is doing for writing. We are learning how to fix surface features. Surface features are little bits of your writing like spelling, too many of the same words, punctuation.

But why are we doing this? Well its because we need to learn how to write and to see the problems so then it makes it easier for other people to read.

Here's an example: thissentsaChulymakessen Zbuttisrellyhrd to reed. This sentence is really hard to read but it makes a lot of sense. The sentence reads: This sentence actually makes sense but is really hard to read.

On our Room 9 writing site. Our teacher made a link to a story we needed to fix. We made our own copy of the story. We had to read the story and then find the problems with the story.

We would read the story and highlight the word and were used over and over again and then we started to change them, some we couldn't.

Here's the story that we had to read and find the problems. This is not my writing its someones else.

He kept absolutely still as the footsteps got louder he tried not to suffocate as he laid under the bed he was wondering what had happened to his brother and his family. The man with the knife in his hand stormed around the house. Mums had boyfriends before but we had not thought that they would ever find us maybe he was one of them looking for revenge but why would he come. mum would just move and how did he find us we live on the other side of the planet from where all of mums boyfriends were so how could he find us he might have put a tracker on mum when he last saw her or on one of the devises ‘Hello where are you I know your here you're going to tell me where you're mother is or you shall join your father... in the skies so which will it be death or freedom you have 10 seconds chose wisely’.

Here's the fixed writing

 “Hello, where are you? I know you’re here. you're going to tell me where your mother is or you shall join your father... in the skies. So which will it be, death or freedom! You have ten seconds to choose wisely”. 

You can see how many words that were used over and over again like the word He or The. I have changed some of these to make sense like putting in paragraphs and highlighting the over used words.

Plot Writing! :P (I Stole This Title From Rye)

Today I am posting about plot writing. Plot writing is were you make a plot for your writing. First we made a copy of the google drawing and then started to fill in the areas that we needed to fill in. 

Then we added in our language features to make our plot more better and because language features are the main thing were doing this term. Anyway here is my work:

Mathssss

Hello there!
Today I am posting about maths and today for maths I did a google drawing about People and percentages. What we did first is we clicked on a link for a google drawing then we made a copy of said google drawing then we filled out the questions and then we have to post it on our blog. Here are the steps you have to follow.

So we are working out totals, percentages and parts of a group. I have gotten the hang of this so finding the total and the fraction is easier.
